This article is just right for you.

Past record

Liverpool will meet Real Madrid in the ground they had met for the very first time for the Champions League final.

In the 1981 Champions League final in Paris, Bob Paisley’s men had taken the trophy home, beating Real Madrid 1-0.

Liverpool fans would hope their current team would replicate the feat of their predecessors, while Madrid fans will draw inspiration from their club’s unmatchable European pedigree.

The Saturday night event will set up two of the most successful teams of Europe for continental supremacy once again.

The clubs already have 19 Champions League trophies between them. Regardless of the result in the upcoming final, that trophy count will rise to 20.

Current form

In the road to the final, Liverpool have seen off Inter Milan, Benfica, and Villarreal.

Real Madrid cruised past some of the best teams in Europe in Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City.

The pursuit of the historic quadruple is off the table now for Liverpool.

The Reds have won the FA Cup and the EFL Cup, but they narrowly missed out on clinching the Premier League title. But that won’t dent their motivation for a win at Stade de France.

The Merseyside outfit will be out for avenging their 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the 2018 final and add another Champions League trophy to their cabinet.

Jurgen Klopp, however, will be wary that he has  won only one third of the matches against Real Madrid as a manager.

It’s his worst record against a European opposition.

Many have tried to point out that Liverpool had a relatively easy run to the final.

But, they lose sight of the fact that Liverpool has overcome an heavily congested fixture list to remain competitive across all competitions they have played this season.

Team news

Thiago Alcantara gave Klopp an injury scare as he limped off the pitch in the final Premier League gameweek against Wolves.

It was initially thought that the former Bayern Munich midfielder would not be available for selection.

But the latest updates from the physio room has Klopp convinced that he will have Thiago for the final.

Despite their rich history in the competition, Real Madrid were not favorites to make it to the final this season.

The team were supposedly in transition under Carlo Ancelotti, but now they will end the season with a La Liga and potentially, a Champions League trophy.

The Spanish side has lifted the trophy in all of their last seven finals in the Champions League.

Their last defeat, however, was against Liverpool in the 1980/81 fimal.

Karim Benzema is in the form of his life now.

The France international has made the difference, whenever Madrid’s back was against the wall this campaign.

Since he has a penchant for turning up in the biggest occasions, he could make the difference once again.

Real Madrid don’t have any fresh injury concerns to deal with before the match.

Ancelotti suggested Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard will be available for selection.

Our Prediction

Liverpool to win on penalties

Given the attacking qualities both team possess, we believe both teams will find the net.

In regulation and extra time, the score will be level.

When the match goes to shootout, we will give Liverpool the advantage, based on their excellent recent record in shootouts.
